Sam Erpelding is a sound engineer, sound artist and artistic researcher. He was born in Luxembourg, 1992. Currently based in Vienna (Au), he researches and works with soundscape ecology, ecoacoustics and environmental sound art, as well as with electroacoustic media and computer music.

Under the pseudonym Dankwart, he produces  electroacoustic, dub-industrial, soundscape music and worked on several co-operations with other artists like Elif San, Philipp Zenz, Diego Mune, etc. for film music, radioart, sound design and live performances.

After luxembourgish high school graduation he studied audio engineering at SAE Vienna, Computermusic at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and degreed his Master in Digital Media Technologies - Sound Engineering at the University for Applied Sciences St. Pölten in 2019. Currently he is phd student at the Anton-Bruckner Privateuniversity in Linz.

Sam researches contemporary musical instruments and sound installations. He built  different sound devices, like MoConZinth 1.0, Cubus 1.0, Paul_Stretch Footswitch and did his first sound installation "Prënzebierg" at Kunstfabrik Gross-Siegharts (Au). His works are mostly based on Field Recordings, Pure Data programming, and the use of electronic media.

Parallel to this he plays guitar in the screamo, post-hardcore Trio Argon and he is founding member and president of the luxembourgish alternative art collective "D'Kréiennascht".
